Obadiah
In the ninth century B.C., Obadiah prophesied about the destruction of
Edom, the descendants of Esau. Verse 3 indicates that Edom
was guilty of pride, and this sin is what brought her
destruction. The pride of the Edomites had deceived them into thinking that they
were invincible, and that they didn't need God, but God would prove them wrong.
Obadiah also predicted the eternal reign of Israel. Israel
would be restored, and God would reign over His Kingdom, which would include
the land of Israel as well as Edom.
